Anna Woolhouse The New Face of Sky Sports Boxing 33 Reveals How She Copes With Her Hectic Job

1.HAS SPORT AND FITNESS ALWAYS BEEN A PART OF YOUR LIFE?

‘Absolutely. I danced ballet, tap, modern, and acro (dance withacrobatic elements) six days a weekfrom the age of three until I was 24and took part in sports at school.I’ve never been someone who couldsit still! I haven’t danced properlyfor three years, but dance trainingnever leaves you. Whether I’m in abarre, yoga or boxing class, I findmy skills transfer over, especiallywith the footwork in boxing. I’d loveto get in the ring, but I don’t thinkmy bosses would like that!’

2. HOW DO YOU UNWIND AWAY FROM WORK?

‘I train. I find focusing on the task inhand – whether it’s running, goingto a HIIT class or hitting the pads –switches off my mind. I try to work outfour to five times a week, and massivelyenjoy being a part of the communityat my local gym, but I have toadapt with all my travel. I’mworking on my strengthtraining right now, whichisn’t something I love, but a necessary evil to buildsome lean muscle.

3. DO YOU GET TIME TO PAMPER YOURSELF?

‘I’m not really that kind of person.I love a bath, and I’ll get my hair ornails done occasionally, but that’s it.I’m lucky to have someone to do myhair and make-up before every show, but after a day of wearing a full faceof make-up, I can’t wait to take itall off and let my skin breathe. I loveusing Caudalie skincare products, especially its Beauty Elixir mist (£12for 30ml; uk.caudalie.com), to refreshmy skin during and after filming.’

4. HOW DO YOU STAY ENERGISED?

‘Coffee. I always say I’m sponsored by coffee! Plus, Ialways drink lots of water and carry healthy snacks inmy bag. Good nutrition is massively important to me,not just for aesthetics, but also because I like to takecare of myself. Lunch and dinner vary as I’m often onthe go, but breakfast is normally rye bread withavocado and poached eggs. I love it – apart from thehealth benefits – because I’ve finally mastered howto cook proper poached eggs in a proper pan!’

5. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR JOB?

‘Boxing is like no other sport and is sounpredictable. Within twelve rounds, a fightcan go the distance or be over in seconds, unlike many other sports, where matches area fixed length. I attend the press conferenceon the Thursday, the weigh-in on the Friday, then the big fight itself on the Saturday andit’s great fun. The passion, incredible fitnessand physicality of the boxers is so inspiring.’
