How to be a Thriving Artist Jenna Raynell Yoga

I just hate the mentality of the starving artist I think that as artists we are so lucky.

Because we get the opportunity to share this beautiful art that we create with other people we get to share our emotions our hopes our dreams all of us we’re really sharing a piece of who we are and, if we’re starving what kind of piece are we offering to the world I totally get that there are some actors artists musicians out there that love this mentality of the starving artist and they think it’s so romantic and that they are suffering for the cause of their art and, if that’s for you that’s fine. But I don’t like that idea I don’t like the idea of living day to day suffering and meeting in I’m just being unhappy. Because of my art I want my art to be an expression of the full well-lived life that I lead on a day-to-day basis there’s a quote that I was reminded of recently that goes the way you do anything is the way that you do everything and, if you are an artist. And you are starving. And you are not living well then that’s the way that you’re going to do everything everything in your art is going to suffer your auditions are going to suffer your industry relationships are going to suffer your creativity is going to suffer.

But when you are so full and filled with life and a good life um then you can thrive and I think that’s the key as an artist I think like with anything in life, if you change your mindset you’ll change your life and I think, if you change your mindset around the idea of the starving artist you are going to succeed in amazing ways, if you find ways to live a life that is so full and worth living day to day not just when you’re performing or painting or making music. But on your daily life, if that’s a life worth living then everything else is going to flourish as well. So It all comes down to changing your mindset I think you change your mindset about anything you’ll change your life and you’ll change the way that you do things, if you wake up every day with the thought that your life is remarkable even when you’re not performing even when you’re um just have a normal civilian life that um so many of us have you know, if you wake up. And you enjoy that life then it’s going to change your art. And it’s going to make your art that much more powerful and inspiring and what better way to inspire people then through your art most of our life is not going to be spent doing our art, if you and any level of where our career is at we’re not going to be doing our arts one hundred percent of the time we’re gonna have normal days the majority of the time and I think the key in that is to make sure that those normal days you love and that you’re happy in them and that you’re not struggling and starving and unhappy and miserable and all of that stuff.

Because in the end when both pieces of your life come together your art in your normal life you are going to just be so powerful and inspiring that no one’s going to be able to stop you I have noticed that my life has changed since I’ve gotten rid of the mentality of I’m a starving artist I can’t do XYZ I can’t go to the gym I can’t afford a gym membership I can’t afford to go to yoga I can’t afford to eat well. Because it’s expensive instead now I found ways to like shift around the system which I think is so exciting. So that mentality and that philosophy is really my purpose and my goal through this post series or vlog um it’s just to inspire you as artists and actors to make your daily life worth living and to give you some resources that I have found so helpful in accomplishing that so hope that you will stick around and learn from the resources that I have found. And also to kind of create a community here to share with other actors artists musicians and other creative types the resources that make our daily lives fun and enjoyable and worth living and. So I hope that we can live well together.
