Today's Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel reveal may have answered some long-standing questions about Bethesda's next RPG, but it doesn't appear to have brought the release date any closer. According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, the game is still “more than two years away”.
In a social media post following today's announcement, Schreier reminded fans that The Elder Scrolls VI was originally unveiled back in 2018 alongside Starfield during a turbulent period for Bethesda. According to Schreier, the original teaser was primarily intended to reassure fans that major single-player projects remained in development despite Bethesda's focus on Fallout 76 at the time.
“I think a lot of people forget that The Elder Scrolls VI was only announced in 2018 (along with Starfield) to soften the blow of Fallout 76 — ‘Don't worry, even though we're making a multiplayer game we've got single-player stuff coming too!' Sorry to say this game is still more than 2 years away!”, he wrote on Bluesky.
Schreier did not provide any further details on a potential launch window. However, if ‘more than two years away' is accurate, then the previous theory that the game would be targeting 2028 may prove optimistic.
KitGuru Says: Today's reveal was essentially a re-do of the original teaser, offering little more than a logo. Considering the game may not even be ready for a late 2028 release, I wouldn't expect to see much more beyond that over the next year.
