Kingdom Come studio hit by cyberattack

Warhorse Studios, the company behind Kingdom Come Deliverance and an upcoming Lord of the Rings game, has been the target of a cyberattack, the studio confirmed this afternoon.

Warhorse revealed the attack on its systems in a statement, saying: “We're sorry to share that Warhorse Studios has been hit by a cyberattack. We're working with cybersecurity specialists to secure our systems and understand the full extent of what happened. Thank you for standing with us”.

The company did not share what impact this cyberattack had, so we don't know if data was stolen, or if ransomware was used in hopes of securing a payout. No hacking group has come forward to claim involvement at the time of publishing.

Right now, Warhorse Studios is busy working on a brand-new Lord of the Rings game, as well as a new spin-off set in the Kingdom Come universe. In the past, similar cyberattacks on studios like GSC Game World, CD Projekt Red and Insomniac Games have led to delays in work on current projects.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully Warhorse is able to figure out what went wrong quickly and if any data theft was involved.
