Earlier this week, we learned that the long-awaited New Game+ update for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced would finally be coming out. However, it turns out there is a bit more to the story. This is the game's last major patch, and it packs a bit more than just the NG+ option.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Patch 1.0.8 goes live for all platforms today, weighing in at just shy of 5GB – except on Xbox, where the update requires a 15GB download instead for unknown reasons. The headlining feature here is of course the New Game+ mode, although not all of your upgrades will carry over to a NG+ save.
Those starting a New Game+ playthrough can expect to keep all of Edward's tools, upgrades, weapons and trinkets, as well as all ship upgrades, officer abilities and pets. However, you will need to recruit officers for your ship again. Quest-related items don't carry over, but all other money, materials and trade goods will, as will your hideout progression, perks and codex items.
New Game+ also unlocks a new in-game currency called Escudos, which can be spent on exclusive items and outfits only found in New Game+ mode.
If you want a harder challenge, this patch also adds Nightmare difficulty, which increases enemy damage, reaction times and more, so you'll need to be on your A-game in fights to parry incoming blows.
Finally, this patch also adds some new hidden chests around the game world for players to find, new takedown animations and new cosmetics, so there will be new things to find even if you aren't embarking on a New Game+ adventure.
