Prior to working on Dune Awakening, Funcom were known best for Conan Exiles – the survival crafter based on the classic Conan the Barbarian franchise. Earlier this year, in alignment with the game’s 8th anniversary, Conan Exiles received a free ‘Enhanced’ update on PC, upgrading the world using Unreal Engine 5. Following its successful release, the team have now confirmed that Conan Exiles Enhanced will be coming to consoles in “early 2027”.
Taking to the game’s Steam page to make the announcement, the team at Funcom officially confirmed that Conan Exiles will finally be coming to current-gen consoles in the form of its ‘Enhanced’ edition. As with its PC release, the upgrade will be free for all current owners of the game (within the same family of consoles at least).
Given the fact that it will be treated as a separate game on the Xbox / PlayStation storefronts, those who own the original will be able to freely play both Conan Exiles Enhanced as well as the ‘Legacy’ version.
That said, the enhanced update does introduce a number of welcome improvements, including but not limited to:
- “Significant” visual improvements across environments; characters; lighting and effects
- A redesigned UI
- Performance enhancements
- Quality of life improvements
- More seamless integration with the game’s Isle of Siptah expansion
Though it won’t be available at launch, Funcom have also confirmed that Conan Exiles Enhanced will eventually offer support for full cross-play between platforms – a welcome addition which is pretty commonplace with modern releases.
