Announced during the Nintendo Switch 2’s big blowout Direct back in early 2025, The Duskbloods is set to be the first console-exclusive developed by FromSoftware since 2018’s Deracine. At the time of its unveiling, the multiplayer focused Switch exclusive was stated to be arriving some time in 2026. With the year almost at its end, it seemed clear that the game was not going to make the cut. Sure enough, FromSoftware have now officially confirmed that The Duskbloods has been pushed back to 2027.
Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the official Duskbloods page confirmed the unsurprising delay, writing:
“While development of ‘The Duskbloods’ is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027. We apologize to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support.”
Offering some context to the decision, the team continued, “During the network test, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression. To further enhance these aspects, we have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing.”
Given that The Duskbloods is a PvP / PvE experience, it makes sense that balance will be a vital part of the game (even more so than Elden Ring: Nightreign). That said, early gameplay impressions from the Network test have been positive, and so it will be interesting to see what will have changed between the test and its eventual release some time next year.
