Many classic 90s and early‑2000s games have been returning in recent years, from remasters of Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain to refreshed versions of older Star Wars titles and even cult classics like System Shock. Soon, we may have another old favourite joining that list, as a new rumour claims that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is being lined up for a remaster.

The rumour comes from a post on Reddit, where the same leaker who previously revealed that Forza Horizon 6 would be set in Japan claims that Bloodlines is being remastered rather than remade. That distinction is important, as a band involved with the original soundtrack recently suggested they had heard talk of a “remake”, which would imply a far more ambitious project than what is being described here.

According to the leaker, the project is a straightforward remaster with some caveats. If true, the end result would likely resemble Aspyr’s recent output, delivering an up‑ressed version of the 2004 PC classic with smoother gameplay, modernised controls and modest quality‑of‑life improvements, rather than a full rebuild. Bloodlines was primarily a PC title, so a remaster would also open the door for console players to experience it for the first time, alongside a new generation of RPG fans who missed the original release.

The leaker also expressed uncertainty over whether the remaster will actually ship, citing the current instability across the games industry, where early‑stage projects are increasingly vulnerable to cancellation. It remains unclear who the leaker spoke to or what evidence they saw.

While Bloodlines did receive a sequel recently, it wasn’t a true successor to the original’s RPG structure, leaving many long‑time fans still hoping for a way to revisit the 2004 game in a modern format. A remaster would be the most accessible route to making that happen, but for now, the rumour remains unconfirmed.

KitGuru says: Bloodlines has a dedicated fanbase, and a modern remaster would attract plenty of interest. Would you revisit the original if it returned on current platforms?
