This posture honors all of the peaceful warriors and spiritual activists out there. It builds strength in the legs and stretches the side body, opening the heart.

QUALITY Grounding, energizing EFFECT Flexibility, openness, strength PROPS None GAZE Up.

1 Begin in Warrior II Pose. As you inhale, tip backward and lift your right arm over your head, looking up. Slide your left hand down your left leg, draw your left hip forward a bit, and arch back.

2 Stay here for 1 to 3 breaths before returning to Warrior II, and switch to the other side.

I had my first bout of insomnia at University before an exam on partial differential equations. In retrospect, I am so glad I passed that course because I complete partial differential equations all the time. And I totally remember what they are.

Although you can’t meditate your way through an A+, you can certainly reduce the stress you experience as you prepare. If you remain in a stressed state, it can interfere with your mind’s ability to retrieve information. If anything, you want your brain to be in optimal condition for your exam.
