SHALABHASANA (LOCUST POSE VARIATION)
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the superman version of shalabhasana. This pose uses the core for support whilst stretching out the front of the body in a mild back bend.
Begin lying prone on the floor, with the arms stretched out forwards, palms on the floor. Inhale deeply to prepare, then on the exhale engage the pelvic floor and abdominal area.
Inhale to lift the chest and thighs from the floor, letting the feet and arms follow.
Take five breaths here then slowly lower to the ground with the head to one side.
Take a free breath here, then re- engage the core and repeat, this time lying with the head to the other side before completing a third round.
