For the study, the researchers followed a bunch of participants who took part in a three-month yoga and meditation retreat and measured their brain function, mood and physical wellness.

After weeks of practising breathing techniques, repeating mantras and getting their downward dog on, the group experienced an increase in chemicals related to improved learning, immunity and mood regulation.
